Welcome to Sound Art Labs. My name is Robert Tucker and this site was designed to organize my efforts to understand, create, and encourage the creation of a specific body of work. On the various pages and posts below, I document the conceptual foundation and physical creation of this work.
Art makes sense (or fails to make sense) within a particular context. My chosen context is what has been called conceptual art, embodied in contemporary materials and sound. Thus, the title of this site: Sound Art Labs. Sol Lewitt’s work has had the largest influence on me. John Baldessari and Joseph Kosuth are obviously “out there” for me, but the nature of their influence is more complicated, even within my own head. I work in sound as a medium (which means I have to maintain some sort of peace with John Cage). There are many others, of course, but I’ll talk about them on the site as they come up.
